Thus begins the journey of a young Swedish man bearing a Hebrew name that had been a source of contention between his parents.
Matan was torn in his childhood between his mother’s deep hatred for Israel and his father’s intense love for this hot land. A mysterious event that occurred in Jerusalem at the turn of the third millennium cemented the rift and cast a long silence around it.
As an adult, Matan sets out to unravel the mystery. He arrives in Israel and begins a journey with no clear thread to follow.
Tikva, who was indirectly involved in that same event, has yearned for thirteen years for the return of the boy who became a young man, and in her longing, she weaves his destiny. Through her steadfastness, she becomes the beating heart of the story, from which and to which the entire plot flows.
A chain of events, seemingly coincidental, is revealed to be a natural progression leading to the mending of wounds and the completion of the picture.
